Moto G4 & Moto G4plus bootloader unlock Tutorial

Motorola is here with two new family member, Moto G4, and Moto G4 Plus. Both sports a full-HD 5.5 inch LCD panel with 401ppi protected by corning gorilla glass 3. Both runs on latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz coupled with 2GB ram for 16GB variant and 3GB ram for the 32GB variant. Memory is expandable upto 128gb and to power it up we have a 3000mAh battery underneath with turbocharging feature.

There’s a 13mp autofocus camera on Moto G4 and a 16mp laser-assisted autofocus camera on G4 plus and both have a 5mp on the front. G4 plus also sports a fingerprint sensor on the bottom front, unlike G4. However, rooting can always enhance the capabilities of a device So in order to root Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus we need few things listed here :-

1) A Laptop/PC, a working internet connection and a USB cable.

2) Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus USB driver, Minimal ADB, and Fastboot tool driver.

How to unlock the bootloader of Moto G4 Plus and Moto G4

a) Before proceedings make sure that your device is at least 70% charged.

b) Enable USB Debugging by going into Setting> About Phone and tap on build number for 8 times. This should unlock Developer Options. Now get into Developer Options and enable USB Debugging and Allow OEM unlock options.

c) Install Minimal ADB, Fastboot Tools, and Moto G4 or Moto G4 Plus Drivers on your PC.

d) During installation create desktop icon and complete instalation open minimal adb and fastboot open

e) Now switch off your phone. Then press Volume up + Power Key together. You will get into Fastboot Mode. Now connect it to the PC via USB cable.

f) Now type the following command into the Command Window to check if your phone is properly connected and is detected by PC or not.

fastboot devices

g) Now you need the unlock data to unlock the bootloader. Type the following command into the Command Window

fastboot oem get_unlock_data

h) It will display a long string which you need to copy into notepad, remove all the spaces which are present and save it somewhere.

 i) Now go to Motorola official website. Create an account if you don’t have any. Log in to the account and go to the Unlock Bootloader option and paste the string which you copied in the notepad earlier.

j) Now click on Can my device be unlocked. Select I Agree and then Request Unlock Code. You should receive a mail from Motorola with similar codes within few minutes.

k) Now copy those codes, open Command Window and type the following commands

fastboot OEM unlock (insert the code without braces)

l) Now you have successfully unlocked the bootloader and now you can install recovery.
